Question

Postby mrbuggin » Tue May 17, 2011 4:15 pm

Anyone work on or have any interest in Honda Hobbit mopeds? Just saved one from the crusher. It's missing the motor but for a 78 it seems to be in really good condition. Thanks everyone.

Well like I said it's missing the motor. I got it cause the rear wheel is belt drive instead of chain. But I thought it might be better to see if anyone would want it to restore before I cut it up to make it work for me lol. I'll get some pics of it today and throw them up.

Well bad news. It's not a hobbit. I didn't look really close yesterday I just looked up 1978 honda moped and it looked like a hobbit so I thought that's what it was. It's actually a 78 Honda PA 50-II. I took pics of it if your still interested in it.

PA-50 / Hobbit / Camino... they're all about the same really. Very cool! Looks like a fun project. I've been drooling over them on Moped Army for quite a while. They're a great platform to build on. Needs this:

and

And various other bits to get it ripping, but you can really go to town with variators, 70cc cylinder kits, CDIs and pipes.

Well I got it cause I wanted the rear wheel off it for a mini chopper project. Just cause it's belt driven. But in the shape it's in I thought someone might be interested in snagging it or trading around so they could restore it. I hate to chop it up and ruin it if someone would restore it and give it some life again.

WOW that motors way outta my price range right now. Been laid off work too long so I really just tinker with them right now. I couldn't afford that lil beast at the moment. But I can always dream lol.

Yeah I did that little ride. Was a little too much for me lmao. I have a little 2 hp briggs I was gonna piece together a mini chopper frame and use it and the back wheel of this on it. Like I said just couldn't see doing it just yet. Thought I'd see if I could trade around a little bit and let someone that would get her goin have fun with her.

I can't believe it. I was outside looking over the Honda and saw something under the seat. Took the retainer off it and pulled out a little storage tray. With a little tool bag in it. Had a double headed phillips/flathead screwdriver in it and a little socket thing I reckon to take the plug out. Thought it was pretty cool that it was still in there.
